Pune: Samir Bodas, co-founder, long-time Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Chairman of Icertis, has passed away following a courageous battle with cancer.

The loss of Samir Bodas is deeply felt across the global technology and enterprise software ecosystem, with condolences pouring in for his family, friends, and colleagues who worked closely with him over the years.

Samir Bodas was widely regarded as a visionary entrepreneur and a transformative leader who believed contracts could serve as a source of clarity, trust, and value for organizations worldwide.

From the earliest days of Icertis, his conviction shaped the company’s mission and culture, helping establish a category-defining business rooted in strong core values and long-term thinking.

“Samir was a pioneer in every sense of the word. His foresight and leadership set the bar for the company that Icertis is today,” said Anand Subbaraman, CEO of Icertis.

Early Life, Career Journey, and the Founding of Icertis

Born in Pune, India, Samir Bodas moved to the United States in 1982 to pursue his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin.

He began his professional career as a software programmer at National Instruments before earning his MBA from Wharton Business School.

In 1992, Samir Bodas joined Microsoft, where he held multiple sales and marketing leadership roles over the years. During the early 2000s, he pursued his entrepreneurial ambitions through ventures including iMandi, Jamcracker, Disha Technology, and Aztecsoft.

A pivotal moment came in 2009 when Samir Bodas met Monish Darda, leading to the founding of Icertis at the dawn of the cloud computing era. Under his leadership, the company scaled rapidly and went on to become the undisputed leader in contract intelligence.

Samir Bodas played a defining role in illuminating the strategic importance of contracts within enterprises, establishing contract intelligence as a critical system of record trusted by more than one-third of the Fortune 100 companies.
